DR Horton Urban Development Training Video Hits Home Run

DR Horton - the largest home builder in the country - looked to RM to develop, produce, duplicate and fulfill a DVD video presentation designed to introduce and sell their Urban Development division to the other DR Horton divisions.

The eight minute DVD video presentation focuses on the challenges DR Horton's staff face from land acquisition to post sales retention when developing their urban development projects and how the Urban Development Division can help them through all stages of that process.

 

"Typically, DR Horton has focused on developing single family dwelling (SFD) projects." said Murray Reynolds, President of Reynolds Marketing. "Identifying, acquiring, designing, building, sell and retaining those sales during the build-out of the development is a horse of a different color to the SFD development teams." It's not that the DR Horton developers don't understand development - these are the best and brightest in the SFD development world. All that may be needed is some specific expertise in Multifamily Dwelling (MFD) development because not only are the development economics unique but marketing the MFD product can be a lot different. "People buy condos for a lot of reasons, and a lot of those reasons are different than the reasons folks buy SFD's. One of the really unique challenges during the MFD marketing cycle is post-sales retention." Reynolds says. "The build out time-lime is much longer for MFD's, and keeping their customers informed and happy during that long build-out is a unique skill that requires understanding and preparation on the part of the Urban Development sales staff."

 

These kinds of issues and more are addressed and the opportunities are discussed in a wonderfully warm, clear, concise and sometimes even humorous way during the eight minutes of the DVD. Reynolds Marketing then duplicated and printed the DVD presentation and distributed it to the DR Horton staff.

SunAmerica "Micro" Digital-Print-On-Demand Not So Micro

Digital Print-On-Demand (DPOD) is hot. But it's expensive and out of reach on the types of "micro" levels that most businesses would find it most useful. Not anymore.

 

Reynolds Marketing (RM) helped to develop, produce and fulfill specialty Digital Print-On-Demand for SunAmerica.

"The typical SunAmerica DPOD or fulfillment project requires the types of services that a large fulfillment company provides. Sometimes, a "micro" program that requires an extraordinary amount of attention for a relatively small amount of orders comes along that larger companies simply can't allot the needed resources to - given the time required on the other larger, more costly programs they are in the midst of producing." says Murray Reynolds, President of Reynolds Marketing. "Our niche is helping to develop, manage, print and fulfill these "micro" DPOD programs. It's a lot of hands on attention that our clients need, and we are able to provide that and more," he says. "We can produce just a few programs a day, at a reasonable cost, for maximum results."

 

While some of the programs are as simple as personalizing 11" x 17" booklet covers, some other programs require the selection printing, collating, insertion and packaging of multiple page proposals. Just recently, Pai, who along with ADP offers administration of the retirement programs that SunAmerica offers, needed RM to produce a program with multiple variable pages printed and collated DPOD.

 

"It's working out great for Pai and SunAmerica, and we feel like programs like these could work out for a lot of other businesses for a multitude of uses, so we of course are very excited about that." says Reynolds.

The Pols Are In

 

When Michael Velasco at Towne Allpoints Communications - a leading national fulfillment and direct mail provider located in Santa Ana, California - needed someone to provide creative services for one of his many political consultant clients (Pols), he called in Reynolds Marketing.

RM worked with Velasco and his client to create, design and produce high impact direct mail campaigns that were targeted toward demographic and sociographic target audiences. Each individual campaign built on each previous one, and created an unified campaign once completed. Frequency was felt to be highly desirable in the overall campaign strategy, so smart design of each mail piece to keep cost down allowed the client to achieve the desired frequency due to overall lower mailing and printing costs.

 

"They (RM) were so great to work with!" said Velasco. "They moved quickly and made things happen within a very, very tight schedule. One thing I really appreciated is that they communicated effectively and with great personal skills with my client, and I rarely allow vendors to have contact with my clients because you never know what might be said that can be unhelpful. If anything, they (RM) were a big benefit to my sales effort.

 

My client was happy, which of course makes me happy. Nothing could have worked out better, and I intend to use them on many more upcoming political mail campaigns, as well as any of the other projects that my non-political mail client’s projects might call for."

 


Financial Lender Video Projects Go Direct

Reynolds Marketing has produced several specialized video & CD Rom projects for the financial services industry including projects for Marina Mortgage, Occidental Mortgage and The Impac Group, all companies that target the sub prime market.

"We have several projects in the works for other sub prime lenders and servicing companies all over the country." said Murray Reynolds, President of Reynolds Marketing. "These companies all network very closely and the word is out that these type of video and CD Rom projects work well, and although they may seem to cost a lot on a per piece basis, these lenders can recoup the cost of production with as little as one loan."

The projects vary from "Welcome" videos, welcoming the new customer and offering suggestions on the loan life process - to "Collection" videos targeting late paying customers - to interactive CD Rom projects with real time video used to train processors and brokers all over the country.

 

"We are looking forward to helping develop and produce more and more of these innovative programs for financial institutions. There are some obvious cross-over uses that other industries could benefit from that we are also anxious to see come to fruition," said Reynolds. "But, right now, we've really got our hands full supplying the demand that these innovative products are generating within our existing client base."

 


Corporate Branding For Our "BUDI"

Butsko Utility Design, Inc. (BUDI), is a rapidly growing, enormously successful company that consults, designs & manages utility infrastructures for large developers, municipalities and corporations. Reynolds Marketing has worked with BUDI from its inception, helping to develop corporate logos and materials.

RM recently completed a test Web page, which is trial running at www.butskoutility.com. Along with final tweaking of the Web page, RM is developing corporate brochures and a long range marketing and media plan to help BUDI become more consistent with their marketing effort and to prepare for any potential downturn to the development community.

 

"Reynolds Marketing has really helped us focus on the big picture, and forced us to look ahead. When it comes to strategic issues, it's really amazing sometimes what Murray Reynolds is able to see that no one else saw. In hindsight, it all seems so simple - but then you ask yourself "If it was so simple, then why didn't we do it before?". Then I remembered, "Oh well, we hired them (Reynolds Marketing), I guess we're not so dumb after all!"

Email Newsletters Blast Off

Towne Allpoints Communications - a leader in marketing fulfillment and direct mail services - looked to Reynolds Marketing to design and create their Email newsletter campaign.

"We developed and delivered a visually interesting and content rich newsletter highlighting some of the recent offerings, events and news that Towne wanted their clients and potential clients to know about" said Murray Reynolds, President of Reynolds Marketing. "Towne does business with some of the most highly recognizable companies in the world. These companies produce the highest quality marketing materials anywhere, so they expect the companies that they look to for creative and logistical solutions - like Towne Allpoints - to have the even better quality marketing efforts.

 

The newsletter was "blasted" to all of Towne's clients, and to a select group of targeted potential clients. Without exception, Towne's clients reaction to the newsletter was overwhelmingly positive - it was a big hit and continues to be an new and important part of their marketing efforts.

We're very pleased to have helped Towne out on this project, and we're pleased that their clients were pleased which pleased Towne!

 

A Really Fun Project

$8 million dollars and 6 acres later, the Mulligan Family Fun Center in Murrieta was almost ready to open.

 

"We had spent a lot of time, money and thought in developing a truly first class theme park". said Georgia Claussens, President of Mulligan Family Fun Centers, Inc. "The only thing missing was our printed materials such as menus, flyers on party plans and that sort of thing. We wanted our printed materials to reflect the quality of the rest of our park, that's why we hired Reynolds Marketing."

 

In a very short time, Reynolds Marketing created and printed menus, party plan flyers, birthday cards, score cards, price lists, special event flyers - everything Mulligan needed in the way of printed materials for their park. All the materials reflected the park's Western theme, and yet were created in such a way that thousands could be printed at a relatively low cost.

"When we saw what they created for us we were so thrilled, we wanted them to do everything else we needed for the Grand Opening too" said Claussens.

 

So RM produced newspaper ads, direct mail flyers, radio scripts, and press announcements. They also planned and coordinated the Grand Opening media plan and media placement, as well as coordinated all the Grand Opening details such as photographers, special attractions such as Professional Baseball players, beauty queens, drawings, banners, radio celebrities, etc.

"Reynolds Marketing made our grand opening easy and flawless. Based on the huge success of their Grand Opening effort, we hired them to completely redo our overall marketing effort, both for Murrieta and Torrance.

 

RM completed an Annual Marketing Plan for both facilities, including an annual advertising plan complete with newspaper display and insert ads for the entire year. They also upgraded and reprinted the Torrance facilities printed materials to reflect the overall feeling of quality they produced originally for the Murrieta facility.

 

"Unfortunately," says Claussens, "Reynolds Marketing did such a good job, they worked their way out of one. They set us up with everything we needed, and made it simple for us to follow their plan and use their materials everyday. We continue to successfully use their ads and plans today, almost a year and a half later."
